Product description
Compared to other techniques for lowering IOP, canaloplasty has an ideal benefit-risk ratio. It is an established surgical procedure for improving the natural outflow in open-angle glaucoma and thus for lowering the intraocular pressure. The procedure has proven to be durably effective and has a low complication rate both intra- and postoperatively.
In search of a better balance between efficacy, complications and costs, Leonid Kodomskoi (Offenburg) has developed an innovative and at the same time economical alternative: the Onatec OEX-1 suture set, consisting of a twisted 6-0 suture probe with an atraumatic shape and a monofilament 10-0 implant suture. The 10-0 implant suture remains in Schlemm’s canal to improve the long-term stability of the IOP reduction. Compared to other microcatheters, the main advantage of the OEX-1 glaucoma solution lies in its lower cost per case.
- Suitable for canaloplasty, trabeculotomy (GATT) and viscodilation
- Safe and durable dilation of Schlemm’s canal
- 44 % or 10.2 mmHg IOP reduction from baseline after 12 months
- 16 % lower IOP compared to the competitor product after 12 months
- 58 % of patients achieved an IOP <15 mmHg after 12 months
- 78 % of patients achieved an IOP < 18 mmHg after 12 months
- Tissue-sparing thanks to the atraumatic design of the probe tip
- The spiral structure of the suture probe enables intraoperative assessment of the function and condition of the collectors
- Simple and reliable fixation of the implant
