What makes my hybrid instrument set special is the ability to perform the entire suture fixation directly within the anterior chamber. The tube-guided 25-gauge instruments support precise, atraumatic work with maximum tissue preservation. Thanks to the specially adapted geometry, the needle can be guided safely and in a controlled manner – without externalising it.
Lars-Olof Hattenbach

Challenge
The complexity of iris suture techniques demands the highest precision. Conventional techniques frequently reach their limits: the instruments used – often too large – not infrequently lead to instability or increased tissue trauma.

Solution
The hybrid set enables a complete manoeuvre within the anterior chamber without externalisation – atraumatically. The combination of forceps, scissors and needle holder is perfectly matched to the micro needle.
Primary application areas of the hybrid instrument set

- Iris defects or trauma
- Refixation in IOL luxation
- Bimanual suture techniques with NanoEdge®
- Fixation of IOL
- Zonulolysis
- Knot placement within the anterior chamber

Advantages of the hybrid instruments acc. to Hattenbach
The hybrid instruments enable a safe, controlled iris suture with minimal tissue trauma – a perfect combination for microsurgery in the anterior segment.
- 1. The 35° angulation of the lumen allows optimal manoeuvrability within the anterior chamber
- 2. Slim 25 gauge diameter enables bimanual, atraumatic work
- 3. Extra-short 2 mm needle enables intraocular sutures without externalisation

"The combination of needle holder, forceps and scissors enables complete bimanual work within the anterior chamber, which – particularly in cases of unstable anatomical conditions – contributes to a noticeable reduction in operating time."

"The Hattenbach hybrid instruments are a fixed component of my instrument set for complete and complex anterior segment surgery: they allow minimally invasive bimanual handling in the anterior eye segment, enabling maximally gentle microsurgery with rapid rehabilitation in everyday surgical practice."
