Yamane Double-Needle Stabilizer
Fixation ring and needle guide for flanged intrascleral IOL fixation

Flanged intrascleral IOL fixation enables a precise and stable position of the implanted lens. My double-needle stabilizer facilitates the exact localization of the sclerotomy positions through predefined angles of 20° to the limbus and 10° to the iris surface. This enables controlled externalization of the haptics using needles or the micro forceps needle according to Amon.

Challenge
In the Yamane double-needle technique, the sclerotomy positions are located through the combined use of an axis marker, calipers and dye. In addition, there is no control over the recommended insertion angles for forming scleral tunnels when puncturing through the conjunctiva into the sclera. The combination of these variables poses a challenge for reproducibility and standardization.

Solution
The Yamane double-needle stabilizer simplifies the localization of the sclerotomy positions and provides control over the insertion angles for forming the intrascleral tunnels. Thanks to its ring shape and fixating teeth, it also provides excellent fixation of the eye while the needles are being inserted.

Externalization of the haptics

Features of the double-needle stabilizer acc. to Yamane
- 1. Precisely angled guide grooves facilitate exact sclerotomy positioning
- 2. The notches serve for alignment with the reference markings on the cornea, allowing later adaptation to different corneal diameters
- 3. Excellent fixation of the eye through ring-shaped arranged teeth

Precision in action
Watch the Yamane double-needle stabilizer in action: how the instrument guides needle positioning, holds the eye stable and enables reproducible scleral tunnels – step by step, exactly as Prof. Yamane developed it.
What ophthalmologists say

Reliable fixation of the haptics and thus predictable refractive outcomes depend on the reproducible placement of the scleral tunnel. The Yamane stabilizer serves as a practical orientation aid for the needle angle and ensures a more consistent execution of the procedure.

The Yamane technique has a steep learning curve, but with the micro forceps needle acc. to Amon, it has never been easier to train younger colleagues in this superior technique.
